Alaska Triathlon Club Board - 2009-2010 where I helped to establish the Alaska Triathlon Club Youth Scholarship program and helped with organization of both Alaska Triathlon Club triathlons (Hammerman and State). I have volunteered at various levels with the Nordic Ski Association of Anchorage, from trail work and signage to administrative work.

6. Describe what skills you feel you can bring to the ATC board.

Participation in a variety of different types of triathlons and triathlons in a variety of different locations provides me with a good sampling of what is done in other places so I can take what I find works well and apply that to our own activities and events. My background with other sports helps me to see what is truly unique about triathlon and how to best gear activities and events to meet those unique aspects. I consider myself to be approachable and thus someone people can come to with ideas or concerns. I can then help to work with those as necessary.

7. Why do you want to serve on the Board?

I would like to continue to improve the programs that the Alaska Triathlon Club provides as well as help develop new programs that can help the membership reach whatever their goals may be.

5. Please provide a short resume of your volunteer and past board experiences.

I’m at the point in life where I enjoy volunteering and contributing to organizations. I regularly volunteer for the Gold Nugget and Eagle River triathlons. (You might have seen me wrangling kids at the ERT swim start.) I have also volunteered for the Hammer Man tri, Humpy’s Marathon and other local races. I’ve started two non-profit organizations (the Alaska Distance Learning Partnership and the Rilke Schule Verein (PTO)) and served on the board of two others (Highland Tech High School Academic Policy Committee (APC) and the Alaska Distance Education Consortium.) I’ve been president of both the Rilke Schule Verein and the APC at Highland Tech High. Currently I am the Co-chair for the video conferencing special interest group of the International Society for Technology in Education.

6. Describe what skills you feel you can bring to the ATC board.

Professionally I’m a business executive and manager, which means I really don’t DO anything. However, I am good at focusing groups on the organization’s mission and vision, and making sure that we work towards those goals. I have a very practical nature so I work hard to make sure that we have resources and capabilities to achieve those things that we set out to accomplish. I’m good at seeing the big picture, anticipating challenges and planning to overcome those obstacles. I’m also a computer geek from way back and understand how computer applications can help social organizations (and have lots of ideas about which tools to use.)

7. Why do you want to serve on the Board?

The tri club is a great group of people. I’m willing to give back to a group that has been supportive of me in my quest for fitness and fun. If I’m not chosen for the board, I’m very happy to volunteer with the group.

5. Please provide a short resume of your volunteer and past board experiences.

I have been a resident of Alaska since 1965 and on the Kenai Peninsula since 1971. Volunteer for the Women's Crisis Center Kenai Peninsula Borough Volunteer coordinator for our local Food Bank President-elect Hospice of the Central Peninsula Event director - TriTheKenai Triathlon

6. Describe what skills you feel you can bring to the ATC board.

I have served on boards and committees from the days my children were in club/boy scouts, little league, and soccer, up to now serving on community-based boards. I have a background in Information Techology, serve on a board that deals with monies and business decisions in excess of 200K, have the ability to listen and a willingness to compromise for the good of the group. I do often times wear my pink tutu at races, but I'm not sure that qualifies as a skill...

7. Why do you want to serve on the Board?

My purely selfish goal is to perpetuate the sport of triathlon wherever I go. Specifically, my primary goal outside of conducting normal ATC board business would be to increase our membership from Kenai Peninsula. I think continuing to foster the ATC's relationship with triathletes on the peninsula will only bring value and benefit to our club. And I have an passion and desire to give back to our communities and our people in terms of volunteering my time and energy. Thanks for your consideration...
